The Faces Behind BizCom: Katelan Hudson

BizCom is Ecstatic to Welcome Katelan Hudson as the New Client Relations Intern!

Hailing from Corinth, Texas, Katelan Hudson is a graduate from the University of North Texas who has recently joined BizCom as its newest Client Relations Intern. At UNT, Katelan majored in Public Relations with a minor in Marketing. Successfully completing her degree in May, Katelan is now gearing up to pursue a Master of Science in Digital Communication Analytics, utilizing this break to receive valuable practical experience with BizCom.

Why did you choose PR?

I was first introduced to PR by one of my friends, who was a print media student at UNT’s Mayborn School of Journalism. At that point, I was quite indecisive about my career path, exploring various majors simultaneously. My friend strongly encouraged me to consider going into PR because of the diverse range of career opportunities it offered. Looking back and taking her advice by venturing into PR was truly one of the most rewarding decisions I have ever made.

What is the best advice you could give someone looking to start their career in PR?

Look into internships and join student orgs. Follow what’s going on in the industry. Think of brands you really love and study their different PR strategies. Really be open to exploring all the things PR has to offer, you never know what you might just fall in love with!

When are you happiest?

I have my coffee in the morning and keep my space organized!

What is your ideal way to spend a weekend?

Hang out with friends and family, binge watch early 2000’s rom coms, try out a new recipe.

What is your favorite team to cheer on?

Hard one! Probably the Mavericks but love watching any basketball game in general!

If you had an extra hour each day, how would you spend it (not work related)?

Going on a lot more nature walks.

What’s an activity you have always wanted to try, but haven’t had the chance to?

I have been influenced by TikTok, but I would absolutely love to get into pottery like making mugs and stuff.

What is your favorite pastime?

Curating Spotify playlists and mood boards on Pinterest!

What are 2-3 things others probably wouldn’t know about you or “fun facts”?

  • I was a part of an acapella group and jazz ensemble at UNT,
  • I was born in a different country, and
  • I am an amateur photographer!
